Dear Parents
We have had another busy and productive week here at BVIS.
Last Friday we had Children’s Day celebrations and talent shows it was a great way to conclude the week.
On Saturday our EYFS team hosted a ‘Super Hero’ event for prospective parents. The event was well attended and everyone had a great time.
This week I hosted two parent information sessions where I updated parents on successes to date and further improvement plans going forward. Thank you to all those who attended.
On Thursday our Year 3 children has their sleep over in school and it was hugely successful. Well done to everyone involved.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our guards, cleaners and facilities staff who in all extreme weathers this week were out the front of the school greeting your children to ensure a safe route into the school. I know you will join me in thanking them for their incredible efforts.
I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.
Self-care
The Early Years children are always taught in school to care and respect others. This week, they have been learning about the importance of Caring and Respecting themselves too. This means looking after their health, hygiene and minds. Through shared circle times and social stories the children have been shown the importance of eating healthy food, looking after their bodies and keeping clean and healthy.
Homemade Lemonade
During the STEAM lesson, the students work in groups to discuss and explore the process of making a delicious lemonade. They created detailed plans and collage illustrations depicting the step-by-step procedure. Afterward, each group enthusiastically began the hands-on practice, individually crafting lemonades with their own unique flavours and styles.
Singing like Pirates
The students have been practicing learning pirate shanties and songs using various musical instruments.
The Mythology of Ancient Egypt
Year 3 students have been thoroughly enjoying their exploration of Ancient Egypt. This week, they delved into the fascinating world of Egyptian mythology, focusing on the gods and goddesses worshipped by the ancient civilization. Each student selected a God or Goddess to research, discovering facts about them. They then transformed their knowledge into creative 3D fact files, showcasing their understanding and artistic skills
Hunting for Angles in their Natural Habitats
Year 4 students participated in an exciting activity: Angles Hunting for identifying different types of angles in real life. They not only recognized acute, right, and obtuse angles but also discovered that right and acute angles are much more commonly found in real life than obtuse angles.
The Human Body
Year 5 is on an exciting journey to discover the amazing features of the human body in the topic 'The Human Body'. The children participated in experiments where they tested their sense of touch by feeling the characteristics of different objects. They were very excited when touching items hidden in the mystery box, sensing the softness, hardness, bumpiness, or smoothness. Additionally, the children explored the relationship between exercise and heart rate. How does heart rate change after short exercises? Does the heart rate increase or decrease? The students carefully counted and recorded the number of heartbeats, then drew conclusions about the importance of exercise for health.
School values: Enquiry and Co-operation
This week the children are building up to the end of their IPC unit and are designing their own fairground rides in groups. They will be going through the design cycle process of testing and improving their working models, eventually turning their classrooms into mini funfairs!
School value ENQUIRY and GLOBAL CITIZEN
Year 7 students recently visited the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, providing them a valuable opportunity to witness the artifacts and traditions of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. They experienced stepping into ethnic houses and learned new terms relevant to their studies. Students read and took notes on useful information for their subjects, making the trip both educational and engaging. This excursion allowed all Year 7 groups to explore the diverse traditions, customs, and lifestyles of Vietnam’s ethnic communities, significantly enhancing their understanding of the nation’s cultural mosaic.
School value ENQUIRY
Y7B have been working on their Robotic arm project that took some weeks. Eventually, they came up with incredible pieces of technology, well done!
