Dear Parents
Last week we hosted a team of evaluators from CIS/WASC. I am delighted to say that the feedback from them was excellent and they were very impressed by our school. You can see the email from me earlier in the week for further details. I know you will join me in congratulating the whole school community fur such positive comments about our wonderful school.
It was an absolute delight to attend the primary performance of Peter Pan last night. What an excellent performance and congratulations to all the students and staff involved, an amazing evening.
This week I was pleased to be able to pop in and see many exit point meetings across primary. It was pleasing to see such amazing work that had been completed by the children.
I am delighted to say that we have a growing number of applicants to join our school next year. If you have not done so already, please ensure you have let our admissions staff know of your intention to continue with us next year as some of our year groups will be full and there will be waiting lists in operation.
Just a reminder that we will be running the summer school program again this year. If you haven’t done so already, please sign up before 30 April to get 10% discount of the Summer School program tuition fee. For further information, you can check at this link.
I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.
Peter Pan
The upper Primary performance of Peter Pan, the musical, was a mesmerizing journey to Neverland. The young cast showcased remarkable talent and professionalism, bringing the beloved characters to life with infectious energy. The enchanting sets, powerful vocals, and cohesive ensemble made it an unforgettable experience. Bravo!
Home-School Communication
Communication in Early Years can be by sound, gesture or talk. Children this week have been communicating through their play; role play at the salon in F1, sharing stories and reading books in F2 and with interactive number games in F3.
It is the time of year again to celebrate the children’s learning and development with parents. Termly parent meetings are part of the home-school partnership and an opportunity for teachers to communicate not just the child’s progress but the next steps in their learning. These meetings continue next week, so please arrange a meeting if you haven’t already done so. The children’s awards assembly is next week also, which all adds up to such a positive end of term.
Similarities and Differences: School value – Reflection
Last week in Year 1, the children were challenged to create the skyline of Hanoi. Comparing traditional homes and buildings from many years ago to the buildings we see today, the children had to consider the similarities and differences. Through discussion, the children used language to compare appearances and materials before experimenting with colour to create the sky. Year 1 were very successful in mixing colours to create different shades.
Finding fractions
In Maths, Year 2 students learned how to recognise and find 1/2 and 1/4 of shapes and quantities. They were very excited about practical activities and cooperated well when working in groups.
Innovating and Persuading
Year 3 have been thinking of their own innovative new products. We are practicing our skills of persuasion by writing an advert to persuade people to buy our fantastic new products. We will use excellent vocabulary, exaggeration, promises and rhetorical questions to create excellent writing.
Global citizens – Wild Rhino
Year 4 presented a remarkable assembly, dedicated to honouring the Wild Rhino organization and promoting animal conservation awareness. The students showcased engaging Vietnamese and English role plays advocating for animal rhino. They performed a song about rhinos and recognized the winners of the Wild Rhino drawing competition. The Wild Rhino organization expressed heartfelt gratitude for Year Four's support.
Making Stop Motion Videos
This week, during IPC, Year 5 have been making stop motion videos of the story they learnt this term: Theseus and the Minotaur.
Collaboration, Communication and Curiosity
Last week Year 6 students had their ‘Here and Now, There and Then’ Exit Point for IPC. The students and parents connected with their own curiosity by exploring some of the students ‘Here and Now, Then and There’ artwork. Students and parents worked together to communicate, reflect and share with each other what they saw, thought and wondered about the breakthrough artworks the children produced. The children also performed and created poetry with their parents. As well as produced a 2D artwork of a country they have been exploring.
