Dear Parents
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the BIS graduation ceremony for their Year 13 students. In a couple of weeks time, we will be hosting our own graduation ceremony to say farewell to our Year 13 students.
I hope you had chance to read my email outlining the success on our CIS/WASC re-accreditation. We are still celebrating the very many commendations that the school received and this is a great way to finish the academic year.
We have a very busy final few weeks of the year and I know you will join me in thanking all the staff for their continued hard work right to the end of the year.
This weekend the school is hosting a super hero camp and it promises to be a great day for all involved.
Finally, we have nearly reached the end of the exam season for our Year 11 and 13 students. They have been exceptional throughout and have worked incredibly hard to achieve the best results possible. We wish them the very best of luck for the results they will receive in August.
I am delighted to say that yet again we are on course for some record breaking results at both IGCSE and A Level. I am very much looking forward to seeing the final result and all the extraordinary university offers our students have gained from around the world.
On Wednesday and Friday next week, I will host the meetings with parents to present to you what is happening in the school and future plans, as well as hearing more of your views. If you haven’t registered yet, please click HERE.
Happy International Children's Day and I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.
School Value - Respect
Respect at an Early Years level can be interpreted in many ways, all challenging for children to understand and comply with at such an early age. Children must learn respect for each other's choices, each other's time and each other's personal space. This week the children have been given examples of how to respect one another.
Independence, Digital Citizenship and School Value – Enquiry
Year 1 are independent learners! Through continuous provision, the children have been taking responsibility for their own learning by challenging themselves to complete different tasks. These include activities linked to creativity, English, Vietnamese, and Math. Recently, the children have also used the iPads to investigate how fruits grow. The children were able to do this by themselves making sure they were staying safe online whilst enhancing their learning.
Directional Language
This week, Year 2 have been learning to use directional language. We are studying the IPC theme Treasure Islands and have learnt that pirates used compasses and had to be good at reading maps.
Digital Citizenship
In PSHE Year 3 are learning all about how to keep safe on the internet. Children now spend more time on devices than ever before so it is important they know how to use this safely. The children shared lots of amazing ideas to keep safe which we recorded on the class board. We then started designing some mini posters of ‘top tips’ which will go on a new PSHE display to share our learning.
School Value - Enquiry
The Year 4 students had an exciting trip to Hanoi’s Geology Museum. This excursion was linked to the IPC curriculum topic, Active Planet, and provided the children with many valuable learning opportunities. During the trip, the children discovered the different types of rocks and learned about the structure of the earth.
School Values – Respect and Caring
Last week, Year 5 welcomed some special guests, students from the Nhan Chinh School for the Deaf. The meeting took place in a warm, cheerful, and laughter-filled atmosphere.
The students participated in many engaging activities together, such as coloring puzzle pieces to complete a large picture and playing group games on teams. Each activity brought joy and laughter to all the participants.
This was an immensely meaningful activity, contributing to educating the students about compassion, care, and sharing with people with disabilities.
School values – Enquiry and Cooperation
This week we have been continuing our learning about forces and have been experimenting with friction – the students have been using Newton meters to compare the effects of different surfaces on the movement of a training shoe. Next week they will apply all of their learning about forces when they design their own fairground rides!
School value CARING and GLOBAL CITIZEN

Reflection by: Khanh Dan year 12
On May 11th, I was incredibly honoured to visit the United Nations Headquarters in Hanoi as one of the Deputy Secretary Generals for UNISMUN. Apart from exploring the UN building, I had the chance to meet lots of outstanding students from various international schools in Hanoi. We engaged in fruitful discussions about the history of the UN and its missions, as well as our personal drive to join MUN and be a part of something bigger than ourselves. I learnt a lot from other schools’ MUN executive board as we share our knowledge and experiences when organising MUN conferences. From the Secretary Generals to the admin, every individual was extremely passionate and serious about their role within the organisation. The leadership and teamwork that the students showed was very impressive and I wish to foster that spirit in BVISMUN in the future. I will use the experience to help to ensure MUN at BVIS continues to thrive and grow year on year.
School value ENQUIRY and GLOBAL CITIZEN
In Term 2 students engaged in the second MIT Challenge of the year, Build Better Energy. For this challenge students had to research and learn how physicists are recreating the energy that occurs in the stars to provide clean energy to the earth through plasma fusion. They were then tasked to design an item that can utilise this energy potential. Our KS3 students thoroughly enjoyed the project, especially the links to sustainability.
School value ENQUIRY and GLOBAL CITIZENS
Recently, Year 7 students participated in a class performance of ‘King Midas,’ a Greek mythology tale. Using role-playing for storytelling provides an engaging and interactive approach to involve learners. By adopting different characters and immersing themselves in fictional scenarios, students can boost their creativity, empathy, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, this method encourages language development by prompting learners to express themselves authentically within a compelling narrative.
