The highest score achieved was 43 points
Students studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at the Metropolitan School of Panama have once again performed significantly above the global average. The 2023 IBDP cohort is the eighth class in the history of the school. As a non-selective school and more than 90% of the cohort taking the IB (International Baccalaureate) examinations, these results are a clear reflection of the outstanding personalized teaching taking place at the MET.
With 60% of our scoring higher than the global average, their access to the world’s very best universities is guaranteed and we are also proud that most of our students will attend their first-choice university.
Additionally, an incredible 60% of the cohort also received bilingual diplomas - an exceptional achievement!
Head of School, Dr. Mark Starbuck said: “These resilient and determined young people achieved an average point score of 32.5, an impressive 2.3 points higher than the world average and 60% of the cohort achieved the bilingual diploma. I would like to thank the staff and parents who supported these young people to achieve their goals and go further than they dreamed possible.”
The MET’s Class of 2023 Valedictorian student, Leonardo, scored an impressive 43 out of a total 45 points, placing him in the select group of 2.68% of IBDP exam takers that reach this or a higher score!
The MET academic team is made up of well-qualified and experienced international teachers, specifically selected for their alignment with the school values and commitment to creating paths to success for all our students.
Head of Secondary Fayrouz Phillips shared: “As a truly inclusive international school, these achievements are even more remarkable and are built on our conviction that at the MET, there is a place for everyone, and every student will succeed.
Congratulations to the MET Class of 2023, we couldn’t be prouder!
