STA gymnasts and swimmers hit new heights. Plus our girls football teams are on course for League Championships...
What a great achievement for our STA community - this past weekend our Marlins swimmers competed in our very own Marlin Mayhem 2019. WIth 18 schools participating and 2 days of massive effort from our swimmers, STA were declared Marlin Mayhem Champions.
The Swim Department would like to thank our STA parents and swimmers for their continued support to make this meet such a successful event for our school.
It has been another busy week with gymnastics, swimming at our Marlin Mayhem Event and also U9 TISAC football last week. This week we look forward to seeing whether our U9 girls can be crowned U9 girls TISAC football league champions at their league festival on Tuesday. Plus we have more football on Saturday at the BPS U9 Tournament where we have 50 children representing STA. Also, our U11 Badminton team get their first friendly of the season with their game at CIS.
It was a busy weekend for the gymnasts with the Black and Gold Gymnastics competition at ISB. Close to 40 gymnasts represented STA fro Year 2 to Year 7. It was great to see so many children improving from their last scores with lots of individual medals being won and our teams beating schools that have had a developed gymnastics programme for many years. We have made some massive steps in the right direction in the development of gymnastics at STA.
A big thank you to Miss Bogi and her team for making this possible.
Last week our U9 Blaze team was in action at their first U9 TISAC Festival. The team, with two Year 2 children, worked hard in the heats and produced some good results, winning, drawing and losing one game each. They now look forward to the U9 tournament on 9 March and then their second TISAC later on in March.
Well done to all our U9 girl footballers for their efforts and hard work over their 2 TISAC Festivals. Some real progress has been made over the year and all the coaches are really proud of them. Our Flames team finished unbeaten across the 2 Festivals and go to the Tournament on Saturday with lots of confidence. Well done to the Year 2 & 3 team showing they will be a fantastic team for next year...

We appreciate that you are often hearing different acronyms - TISAC, BISAC, FOBISIA - that we are involved in but may not know much about them. We hope that the following overview will therefore be useful.
We are currently members of four conferences or organisations:
We have been members for many years. This has 16 schools involved which vary in size from small to very large. Currently, we mostly enter Blaze teams in TISAC. There are leagues and tournaments in several sports from U9-U19 and next year, TISAC will also start its own multi-sport Games for Primary children.
This is our first year in BISAC. The 12-school membership includes the largest international schools in Bangkok in leagues and tournaments across many sports, from U9-U19, split into four seasons through the year. BISAC schools also run invitational tournaments.
This has three major multi-sport Games per year (Primary, U13 and U15) that take place in Phuket against other schools across Asia. There are also single-sport events in Tennis, Golf, Swimming and more, which take place across Asia and provide some amazing travel opportunities.
We are part of the South East Asia division and meet for a U11 multi-sport Games once a year. Our schools take it in turn to host the NAE Games.
In addition, we are part of the wider circuit regionally which means we are invited to a whole range of other events across Thailand.
Currently we are able to offer STA students opportunities through these conferences in Football, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Teeball, Track and Field, Triathlon, Cross Country.
If you have any questions about these conferences, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Damon (damon.se@standrews.ac.th).
