“This publishing party is the culmination of a project that has brought together different subjects, allowing our students to explore and connect what they’ve learned in creative and exciting ways,” were the words that opened our magical first-grade event. And indeed, magic is the only word that can truly describe what unfolded in every classroom.
In 1st Prep, students embarked on a nonfiction adventure, researching animals from across the continents and bodies of water. With wide eyes and curious minds, they discovered facts about habitats, diets, and unique characteristics—then brought those facts to life in both English and Spanish through books filled with bold illustrations and heartfelt writing. Their projects spilled beyond the pages: clay animal sculptures created in Art, green-screen videos enhanced with AI in STEAM, and interactive boards coded with Makey Makey and Scratch made the experience immersive and unforgettable. “Look! My animal is swimming in the ocean!” one student exclaimed proudly as parents watched their child’s project come alive on screen.

The power of student voice continued to shine in 2nd Prep, where opinion writing took center stage. Whether sharing their favorite books or explaining why pancakes are better than waffles, students practiced persuasive writing that was filled with personality, humor, and heart. “I love my story because it’s about what I really think,” said a second grader with a grin, proudly flipping through the pages of her opinion piece.

By 3rd Prep, the line between reality and imagination blurred beautifully. Inspired by The BFG, read in both English and Spanish, students created their own fairy tales. Their stories featured magical lands, brave heroes, and important lessons—all crafted with care and creativity. Each book was a window into the child’s imagination, revealing how reading can inspire writing that is truly original. Parents were captivated as they read tales that felt as whimsical as the classics.

In 4th Prep, the classrooms transformed into graphic novel studios. Students learned how to plan, map, and lay out their own comic-style narratives. After reading El Deafo and reflecting on how Cece Bell turned her differences into superpowers, our students created their own heroes in STEAM, designing characters with AI and producing short superhero films that showcased their creativity and resilience. “I didn’t know I could be a writer and an artist,” one student said, proudly pointing to the comic panels they designed. The walls were filled with vibrant artwork, text bubbles, and characters ready to save the day.

Fifth graders, meanwhile, became investigators and journalists. Their publishing party showcased the depth of their research and dedication to informative writing. “I interviewed my mom and my grandma to write my article,” one student shared. “It made me feel like a real reporter.” In English, they published newspapers filled with current events and features, while in Spanish, they launched their own magazines—each page reflecting critical thinking and creativity. With the help of our STEAM team, their work was digitized, giving it a modern edge and professional finish.

The 6th Prep publishing party was nothing short of inspiring. After reading Hidden Figures, students were deeply moved by the story of African American women in NASA. They collaborated across Spanish, P.E., STEAM, and Social Studies to research and write their own informative pieces highlighting powerful women in science and space. The result was a tribute to resilience, representation, and the importance of lifting up unheard voices. “I didn’t know these women existed,” one student said. “Now I want to be just like them.” Their words, their research, and their presentations reflected not only academic growth but a growing sense of purpose.

Throughout each publishing party, families were invited to explore the books, leave heartfelt comments, and celebrate each child's journey.
None of this would have been possible without the love, vision, and dedication of our incredible educators. A special thank you to all the Primary School Teachers and assistants.
This season’s Publishing Parties were more than just an academic milestone—they were a celebration of curiosity, voice, and joy. At Saint George, we are not just raising readers and writers. We are nurturing thinkers, creators, and storytellers who are learning to use their voice to shape the world.
Thank you for being a part of their journey.
