Saint George School is a school rich in history and pioneering spirit.
Founded on January 25th, 1965, we initially opened our doors to 10 preschool students. As these first children progressed through the grades, Saint George – or ‘Los Angelitos’ as the school was then known – gradually began to welcome new learners. This saw us grow into a Primary, Middle, and Upper School, as a first generation of children reaped the benefits of our all-through education.
With a blossoming reputation and growing student body, we moved to our current location in 1972. We also added a Spanish program alongside our British-based provision, ensuring we aligned with Dominican Republic Ministry of Education requirements. This move laid the foundations for us to become the fully bilingual school we are today.
Throughout our history, Saint George has always sought to lead the way. In 1995, we became the first school in Latin America authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Today, we’re the only school in the country to offer the IBDP alongside Cambridge IGCSEs. This ensures our students benefit from a global education pathway to the world’s top universities.
In March 2023, we joined Nord Anglia Education, becoming the group’s first school in the Caribbean. Being part of this exclusive global community is recognition of our status as a leading education provider. It also brings many benefits for our students and staff.
These include collaborations with UNICEF, The Juilliard School, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), access to the award-winning Global Campus learning platform, and opportunities to compete, work with, and develop lasting connections with schools in more than 30 countries worldwide.
