Jayden Bodet's journey at North Broward Prep started in high school, with goals set to attend an elite university and study business. Full of gratitude, he accomplished his goal with acceptance into three Ivy League universities. It is truly inspiring. His dedication to academics, extracurriculars, and personal growth is evident in his accomplishments and the support he received from his teachers and college advisers.
His campus involvement includes graduating with the International Baccalaureate Diploma, speech and debate team caption, National Honor Society, and President of the Spanish Honors Society. Humbly, Jayden credits teachers Mr. Lindsey, Mr. Greco, and Miss.Tillman, and his college advisor Ms. Farrand for helping him reach his highest potential.
The college application and decision process are always an incredibly stressful time. Ivy League University decisions do not come out until March, so Jayden had to remain patient and focused as he awaited their decisions. He was counting down the days. Thankfully, he got into three: the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Harvard.
It is heartwarming to know the unwavering support Jayden’s parents had for his future. His father's gesture of buying him a Harvard jacket before he even received his acceptance letter showed Jayden, “He believed in me more than I believed in myself, by cheering me on and saying, You will go to Harvard.”
With the three choices, there was always one school in Jayden’s mind: Harvard. Jayden will join his North Broward Prep debate teammate and friend, Payton Shen. Unfortunately, they cannot be roommates, but hopefully they will take classes together since they both will be studying economics. The only thing Jayden is not looking forward to is experiencing the cooler Boston weather. Winter will be a tremendous change for this Florida boy.
Jayden’s story underscores the importance of setting ambitious goals and working diligently towards them, while also cherishing the support and guidance of mentors and loved ones along the way. Jayden's advice to students reflects his own experiences. “Get involved on campus, find activities you love doing. This will shape your story and help you find your passions. Always ask teachers and counselors to help you! Believe you can do it, and always surround yourself with people who believe in you too.”
As Jayden prepares to embark on his next chapter at Harvard, it is evident that his journey at North Broward Prep has not only prepared him academically but has also instilled in him the values of perseverance, determination, and gratitude. His story serves as a beacon of inspiration for current and future students, reminding them that with hard work, dedication, and belief in oneself, anything is possible.
