North Broward Prep invites students to participate in expeditions from our Nord Anglia basecamps in Switzerland and Tanzania.

Expeditions | North Broward Preparatory School - Small Text And Image - Switzerland

Switzerland

In Switzerland, our base camp is Les Martinets in the village of Les Plans-sur-bex. This chalet has dorm style rooms for 2-3 students, game and lounge areas, basketball court and a dining room. From here students can participate in a variety of adventures in the alps.

 

North Broward takes part in the Trekking Switzerland for our Middle School  and Advanced Trekking and Winter Snow Sports for High School.

The trekking trips allow students to spend days hiking through the Swiss alps, taking in breathtaking views, and learning to navigate as a team.  They spend their nights in mountain huts and chalets experiencing local cultures and cuisine.


Tanzania

In Tanzania, our base camp is Shamba Kipara camp just outside the city of Arusha. The camp has safari style tents for 2-5 students, sprawling outdoor campus with pool, covered lounges, trails, and a soccer field. They will dine in a covered dining hall in between adventures.  From here students can participate in a variety of adventures exploring various aspects of Tanzania.

 

North Broward takes part regularly in the Tanzanian Service Project. This project allows students to help improve local communities buy building schools, goat sheds, and other infrastructure projects while interacting with local students and residents. They also take part in a safari in Tarangire National Park where that can see some of the incredible wildlife such as giraffes, zebras and lions.

I loved everything about the trip and especially the service aspects and helping out the families in need. Building the school was such an amazing hands-on experience for me. But my all-time favorite part of the trip was meeting the kids at the school. This experience humbled me and made me realize how fortunate I am to go to school and have a roof over my head.
