What is GC? Introduction

What is GC for?

Global Campus’ mission is to provide our students with opportunities to globally connect and interact with their NAE peers and our collaborations. Students can connect in four main ways through GC:

  • Their community

  • Their world

  • Themselves

  • Global expertise

Activities will encourage students to learn about, with, and from their NAE peers across the world; reflect on their impact on our planet and other people; develop an understanding of who they are and how they fit into the world compared to others; and be exposed to worldclass expertise, includingMIT, UNICEF, and Juilliard. Our vision is that these global connections will enable our students to develop skills socially, emotionally, and academically.

Why, how, and when would our teachers use it?

GC doesn’t duplicate the curriculum by providing specific curriculum resources. Instead, it aims to enhance our curriculum by providing ways for students to connect. For example, if the teachers are doing an All About Me topic, they can join Pen Pals so that their students can explore the similarities and uniqueness with their NAE peers. If they’re doing TOK for the IBDP, they can get their students to join Debate Club to develop the students’ essay-writing skills through using clarity, persuasion, and argument, alongside hearing and responding to other viewpoints when debating with others, or get them to share their TOK essay idea on our Sharing Walls.

The teachers can also use some GC activities as a basis for clubs or after-school activities. Finally, GC competitions can either be used/run within specific departments (e.g. Performing Arts for the GC Reels competition) or can be whole-school events!
