The ACAMIS Cross Country 2024, hosted by Léman International School Chengdu, was a spectacular event that showcased resilience, athleticism, and sportsmanship. Over 135 runners, more than 20 coaches, and representatives from 13 schools gathered to celebrate the spirit of cross-country running. Held on November 15th and 16th, the event offered two action-packed days filled with inspiring performances and unforgettable moments.
Day 1: Warmups, Relays, and Team Building
The first day began with a vibrant welcome ceremony at the LIS theatre, where athletes, coaches, and teachers were introduced to the event’s flow and ethos. After an oath-taking ceremony, participants explored the 3km and 5km racecourses during a guided walkthrough. Practice runs allowed the runners to familiarize themselves with the terrain, setting the stage for competitive races on Day 2.
Day 1 wasn’t just about preparation—it also featured a thrilling team relay race, where athletes from different categories teamed up to compete, demonstrating collaboration and strategy. Teams enjoyed a variety of activities, including supervised football, volleyball, and swimming sessions, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.
Day 2: Competitive Races and Glorious Victories
The second day brought the much-anticipated individual races across four categories:U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls. Each race was a testament to the determination and endurance of the young athletes, who navigated challenging courses to achieve remarkable results.
The event concluded with the ACAMIS Awards Ceremony, where top performers and teams were celebrated. The overall team standings were:
1st Place: UISG School
2nd Place: BSG School
3rd Place: TIS School
Individual and team awards were presented across all categories, with a special emphasis on the event’s spirit of unity and excellence.
