The ACAMIS U19 Volleyball Tournament, held from October 30th to November 3rd, 2024, at Shanghai United International School, brought together top teams from across the region in a display of skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Among them, Léman International School’s (LIS) U19 Boys and Girls Volleyball teams stood out with remarkable performances, highlighting not only their athletic prowess but also their strong sense of teamwork and resilience.
Girls’ Team Secures a Strong Finish
The LIS U19 Girls Volleyball team played with incredible determination and grit, advancing through the tournament with commendable skill and teamwork. They fought their way to the semi-finals, where they faced off against the formidable team from YCIS Beijing. Despite their efforts, our girls were narrowly defeated, finishing the tournament in an impressive 4th place overall. Their performance was a testament to their hard work and strategic play, and they earned well-deserved recognition from both teammates and opponents.
Special congratulations go to Pia and Lois, who were awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) titles for their outstanding contributions on the court. Their leadership, quick reflexes, and strong technical skills were instrumental in pushing the team to their impressive placement, and they left a lasting impression on the tournament.
Boys’ Team Earns the Spirit of ACAMIS Award
The U19 Boys team from LIS showcased not only skill but also exceptional sportsmanship throughout the tournament, earning them the coveted Spirit of ACAMIS Award. This honor reflects their commitment to fair play, respect, and camaraderie, embodying the values that ACAMIS strives to promote in its events. Their journey through the tournament was filled with challenging matches, yet the team remained resilient and supportive of each other.
In addition, Devan and Pedro were recognized as MVPs for the boys’ team, celebrating their strong performance and leadership on the court. Their energy and dedication helped rally the team through every game, serving as a source of inspiration for their peers.
A Memorable Experience Beyond the Court
The ACAMIS U19 Volleyball Tournament provided an opportunity for LIS students to connect with peers from different schools, cultures, and backgrounds, creating memories that extend beyond the volleyball court. Through friendly competition, the students built lasting relationships and gained valuable experience that will contribute to their development both as athletes and as individuals.
The tournament also offered the students a chance to experience Shanghai’s vibrant atmosphere and culture. In addition to the games, the students had the opportunity to explore some of the city's iconic sites and enjoy the local cuisine, making the trip as enriching culturally as it was athletically.
