Dover Court International Year 5 Residential Trip Fosters Learning and Soft Skills

Year 5 Residential Trip fosters learning and soft skills - Year 5 Residential Trip fosters learning and soft skills
“Even though there were lots of bugs, it was perfect. I really loved it and wish I could stay for longer.” – Ryu

As part of our curriculum, Year 5 Dover Court students linked their learnings to English and IPC units of work on 'The Explorer', on a 3-day 2-night Residential trip to CSC Loyang, Pasir Ris.

During the school trip, the children developed and showcased their communication and collaboration skills and put their ability to solve problems as inquirers to test. It also entailed a visit to the Forest Adventure Park, raft building and learning survival skills. This gave many children the opportunity to face their fears as they made their way across obstacle courses and zip-lines.

It was a joy to witness the kindness, encouragement, and support that our wonderful children showed to one another across the three days. Friendships have been formed and strengthened, and long-lasting memories have been made.

Read about the experiences and reflection of our Year 5s below:

“My favourite thing about camp was Forest Adventures which is like high ropes and obstacles. I also enjoyed building a raft and testing it out!” – Stevie

“I learnt how to make a fire and other survival skills. Before I went on the trip, I was quite shy, but I did the talent show and now I feel a bit more confident and have made some new friends.” – Evelyn

“I really liked the Forest Adventures because I got to do it with one of my old friends from a different class. The zip line was so fun!” – Abhishek

“We went to Pasir Ris. I felt happy. I enjoyed the swimming pool. I liked the room because it’s so big. The activities were fun; I liked the raft building.” – Rishaan

“I liked the Forest Adventure. I also liked survival skills; building the fairy house with leaves and sticks. I also like breakfast, lunch and dinner, and swimming. My teacher, Ms Eifa, helped me when I needed help on the trip.” – Arthur

Great job Year 5!
