THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

The two-year IB Diploma (IBDP) is an academically challenging, rewarding, and highly respected qualification that's recognised by universities around the world.

Students study six subjects, one from each subject group and complete the core programme – Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity and Service – to achieve their full Diploma.

Students wishing to study fewer subjects can choose to study IB Courses by studying a minimum of four subjects and participate in CAS. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge components will give additional credits but are optional.

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): a course that explores critical thinking, giving students an understanding of how we learn.
  • The Extended Essay: a 4,000-word independent research project focusing on a specific subject.
  • Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS): a range of activities that nurture creativity and wellbeing, and support our local community.

THE INTERNATIONAL BTEC DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS

The International BTEC Diploma in Business offers an exciting vocational learning opportunity, broadening academic understanding of business and developing work-related skills. Students also gain practical understanding and experience of how businesses operate, in preparation for the world of work or further education.

We offer both Level 3 and Level 2 BTEC qualifications. Our Level 3 qualification is suited to students with a keen interest in Business, who are seeking an alternate qualification at British A-level or IB standard. It is equivalent to two British A-levels and is the first step on the road to university, a polytechnic, or career. We also offer the choice for students to study an IB subject alongside the BTEC.

The Level 2 qualification is perfect for students who have an interest in business and want to take the first step towards further education at Level 3 or going into the world of work. Comparable to four IGCSEs, our Level 2 qualification provides the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for employment.

The BTEC Diploma combines theory and practice in teaching and learning, which is assessed through written and practical tasks in work-related contexts. Students follow units in different business areas, including marketing, logistics, and entrepreneurship, and learn career-focused skills, such as communication and working in teams.
