Lord David Puttnam joins Nord Anglia Education
Nord Anglia Education announced this week that Lord David Puttnam will be chairing the new, independent Educational Advisory Board that it is establishing.
Andrew Fitzmaurice, Chair of Nord Anglia Education, was recently delighted to announce the establishment of an independent Educational Advisory Board that will provide an external perspective and vision to further develop our offer. Chairing this board will be the renowned film producer, Lord David Puttnam. Over the past 25 years years Lord Puttnam has become a passionate advocate for education. Below is Andrew's announcement about this new venture.

Everyone in NAE is passionate about offering students the best possible education, one which prepares them to succeed as leaders and global citizens in the world of tomorrow. The Education Advisory Board will help us ensure this is a reality by offering strategic insight and advice on a broad range of topics to support us in addressing future opportunities and the challenges of education today. The Board will work closely with our leadership team to support the continuous development of our programmes and curricula, teachers and learning environments.
We will invite respected educators from around the world to sit on the Board and it gives me great pleasure to announce that we have appointed world renowned film producer and educator, Lord David Puttnam, to chair the Board.
Following a highly successful, 30-year career as an independent producer, working on a multitude of award-winning films including The Killing Fields, Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone, The Mission and Local Hero, Lord Puttnam retired from film production in 1998 to focus on his work in public policy as it relates to education, the environment and the creative and communications industries. Lord Puttnam is a passionate advocate for the advancement of education and in addition to his strategic leadership roles, he continues to actively teach in universities around the world today. In 1998 he founded the National Teaching Awards, which he chaired until 2008, also serving as the first Chair of the General Teaching Council from 2000 to 2002. From July 2002 to July 2009 Lord Puttnam, was president of UNICEF UK, playing a key role in promoting UNICEF’s advocacy and awareness objectives.
Lord Puttnam is looking forward to working with us: “After twenty-five years working in various capacities in the field of education, I’m delighted to join Andrew and his colleagues in attempting to redefine what 21st century excellence in education can come to look like. It’s a really exciting challenge.”
Lord Puttnam has also accepted the role of Chairman of the School Advisory Board for Nord Anglia International School Dublin which is expected to open in September 2018.
