Every BISB teacher is fully committed to your child’s personal and academic development, delivering exceptional lessons and awe-inspiring enrichment opportunities that motivate them to succeed.

inspiring your child to achieve

Our talented teachers are among the very best in the world.

Abundantly qualified and with a wealth of UK and international experience, BISB staff challenge, engage, and inspire our students to achieve more than they ever imagined possible – both in and outside of the classroom. In small classes, they’ll really get to know your child, adapting learning to their needs, passions, and aspirations.

Really importantly, our teachers love coming to work every day. This creates an energising environment where children love learning. Our parents strongly agree: 96% say their child is happy here.

Shane Egglestone

Shane began his career teaching in England where he worked in a range of schools and in various pastoral roles, including Head of Year, Head of House, and Director of Key Stage 4. Whilst working in his last school in Cornwall, he took part in international exchanges in Canada, Thailand, and Australia: this ignited his interest in international teaching. Following this, Shane moved to Budapest and he joined BISB as a Physical Education Teacher in 2019.

As he did in his previous schools, Shane quickly became heavily involved in the pastoral system at BISB and he initially took on the position of Year 10 & 11 Care & Guidance Leader before being promoted to his current role. Shane is deeply passionate about student well-being and is an advocate of restorative justice, a system that he has seen work effectively first-hand during his time at BISB. He is keen to continue the excellent practice already established at BISB, but he is also excited to bring innovative ideas to fruition within the school.

Shane has carried out formal training based around well-being, mental health, student safety, and working with students where English is an additional language, among others. He is keen to ensure that every student he works with has the opportunity to experience a positive, safe, and nurturing school environment. With this in mind, Shane works closely with his Care & Guidance team to help ensure this for the students at BISB.

As an educator, Shane favours a holistic approach that allows students to focus not just on academic success but also their social and emotional development. Further to this, he recognises that mutual respect and kindness are two key principles that help to build strong trust-based relationships with his students. Ultimately, Shane knows that students who feel listened to, cared for and valued are more likely to thrive and thus reach their full potential in all areas of their lives.

Shane is an avid learner and in his spare time he is learning the Hungarian language in addition to studying bass guitar. Outside of school he enjoys spending time with his wife, and they love to travel and listen to live music around Budapest. Unsurprisingly, as a Physical Education teacher he also loves physical activity and regularly paddleboards, cycles and runs.

teacher-led technology

TECHNOLOGY THAT TRANSFORMS LEARNING

Our teachers seamlessly embed the latest education technology (EdTech) across the curriculum and beyond, transforming how our students learn.

Using interactive whiteboards, iPads, 3D printers, and robotics, our students engage in transformative STEAM learning, which fosters innovation, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Co-curricular activities – including digital media and design, 3D gaming, and Lego robotics clubs – harness the power of interactive EdTech to ignite imaginations.

And on our Global Campus learning platform, your child will connect with classmates across the globe, taking part in one-off international challenges and exploring specially curated content from MIT, UNICEF, and The Juilliard School.

TEACHERS WHO ARE TRULY ambitious

At BISB, we encourage our teachers to be ambitious and expand their knowledge – in the same way we inspire our students. This is the best way to guarantee your child receives the very best academic education.
  • On the Nord Anglia University learning platform, our teachers share ideas with colleagues from across the world, study for further qualifications – including Master’s degrees – and complete hundreds of courses every year.
  • Our STEAM and performing arts specialists benefit hugely from our collaborations with MIT and The Juilliard School, with access to cutting-edge teaching techniques, ongoing development support, and university-standard resources.
  • Every IBDP teacher is certified and trained by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, which gives them the practical understanding and theoretical knowledge they need to guide our students to success.

We’re continually evolving and improving at BISB, which ensures we maintain our exceptionally high standards of teaching and learning.

As well as being the only school in Budapest to hold British Schools Overseas (BSO) status, we’re proud to be accredited by several prestigious organisations, including the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

In line with Nord Anglia’s Quality Assurance Framework, our senior leadership team conducts regular lesson observations, helping us to optimise how we teach. And through rigorous background screening, a strong safeguarding policy, and criminal record checks, we ensure our students are safe at school.
