SURROUNDINGS MADE FOR LEARNING
Our campuses offer an enriching learning environment. Students have the perfect surroundings to grow, mature, and set their sights on realising their dreams and aspirations.
MORE ABOUT OUR CAMPUSES

We know that happy, healthy children become successful students. And that’s why, at TBS Warsaw, wellbeing in school is a top priority.

How do we do put student wellbeing first? Well, it comes from the top. Our leadership team drives personal and academic success through a whole-school approach to wellbeing. The team are guided by specialist pastoral and safeguarding staff, who ensure the right structures, policies, and resources are in place.

In practice, this means embedding topics like healthy living, mindfulness, and global citizenship into every child’s education. It also means fostering an inclusive and supportive community where every child has a voice and feels they belong.

Approaching student wellbeing in a holistic way, like this, ensures every member of our vibrant international community has the emotional support, care, and personalised guidance they need to flourish.

What is wellbeing in school – and why is it important?

The definition of student wellbeing is broad, but typically encompasses the overall health of a young person. This includes their happiness, satisfaction, purposefulness, and sense of belonging, as well as their physical health.

Research shows that students with positive wellbeing tend to enjoy a good quality of life. They have higher energy levels, can build and maintain stronger relationships, and are better at coping with emotions.

In contrast, low wellbeing can have an adverse impact on a student’s health and development. It can also be a precursor to difficulties in adulthood.

A strong connection between wellbeing in school and academic success

A convincing breadth of international research demonstrates the link between wellbeing in school and academic achievement.

Studies show that students with higher wellbeing tend to be more engaged in learning, more focused, and have greater levels of motivation. They also possess academic resilience and are more likely to engage in lifelong learning.

Factors that contribute to student wellbeing

A range of factors contribute to positive student wellbeing in school. These include:

  • Taking part in activities that are significant and meaningful.
  • Feeling regarded, valued, and included.
  • Being challenged and pushed to achieve success.
  • Experiencing a sense of belonging in their community.
  • Having a purpose.
  • Enjoying positive connections with peers.

TBS Warsaw’s holistic approach to wellbeing in school

At TBS Warsaw, we take a whole-school approach to student wellbeing.

Our community – guided by our leadership team and pastoral staff – work together to build and embed strategies that enable our children to flourish. This means weaving mental health and wellbeing into our school culture, too.

We know that whole-school approaches to wellbeing are sustainable and positively benefit the entire community. They also have a demonstrable impact across many areas of school life, such as behaviour, relationships, attendance, and attainment.

Strategies that keep our students healthy and well

A supportive and inclusive environment

A safe and supportive learning environment is the foundation for our whole-school approach to student wellbeing. We focus heavily on how our campuses feel, as well as the opportunities they offer our children.

Our Early Years campus, for example, is a green oasis in the heart of the city, boasting open outdoor areas that connect our children with nature – and encourage them to play and socialise. They’re spaces where our youngest learners are supported to make their own choices, discover new interests, and experience the outcomes of their decisions. This promotes health and wellbeing in the Early Years – setting our students up for success as they progress through Primary, Secondary and the IB Diploma

A diverse international community

The warm and welcoming feel we strive so hard to create is much more than just spaces and facilities. Staff, students, and families from more than 60 countries call TBS Warsaw home, cultivating an environment that’s rich in perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures.

We’re immensely proud of this community, which has our parents at its heart. Against this backdrop – and with the support of hundreds – everyone belongs and feels part of something special.

Embedding student wellbeing into the curriculum

Wellbeing is an integral part of every child’s education, from the Early Years through to the IB Diploma. From Year 7 onwards, for example, our students have personal, social, health, and economic (PSHE) lessons. The PSHE curriculum explores a range of age-appropriate topics, including finance, mindfulness, healthy living, and global citizenship.

Giving every student a voice

Our young people have a say on the school policies, programmes, and principles that matter to them. We also encourage them to take control of what and how they learn, from the extracurricular activities they enjoy to the IB Diploma subjects they choose. This ensures they feel listened to and are doing what they love.

Making the most of technology

Through our exclusive online platform, Global Campus, our students have access to a wide range of resources that help them to look after their wellbeing. We also work in partnership with our parents to navigate the pros and pitfalls of online life, including social media.

A community that understands why wellbeing in school is so important

Ultimately, our aim at TSB Warsaw is to provide a supportive community where your child receives the care, inspiration, and opportunities they need to flourish.

Your child’s health, happiness, and wellbeing will always come first here – and if you have any questions or would like to talk to our team, we’d be very happy to chat to you.
