OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

Education has the power to change the world, which is why we make sure our students develop the creativity and resilience they need to make the world a better place.  Across Nord Anglia schools,  we’re dedicated to making sure our students become global change-makers — ready to take on the world’s most pressing problems.

LOCAL COMMUNITIES

It all starts in our local communities, where Nord Anglia schools work closely with local charity and NGO partners to focus on important causes. We want our students to experience first-hand the challenges communities often face tackling issues, and to understand how to influence and drive change as individuals and as part of bigger teams, too.

These experiences help our students develop resilience, teamwork and the creativity to think ‘outside of the box’ — important skills they’ll need in the future workplace. We also encourage our students to deliver meaningful change through local outreach activities, including our Share A Dream programme which teaches social responsibility through fundraising and volunteering about issues that students truly care about.

Every year, Nord Anglia students support hundreds of local causes tackling the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In the last year alone, our students:

  • Volunteered over 76,000 hours for local community projects
  • Raised nearly $900,000 for local charities.

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH UNICEF

Nord Anglia's inspiring Social Impact Programme with UNICEF challenges our students to think about what they can do to make a difference - locally and globally. Following the UN Sustainable Development 2030 agenda, each year UNICEF and Nord Anglia invite our students to work on a Global Challenge, with themes as wide-ranging as clean energy and peace and justice, to think of innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems. Students from Years 10-12 can even apply to go to the Global Summit in New York, with the chance to speak at the UN’s High Level Political Forum.

OUR STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD

Encouraging citizenship starts by making sure our students' voices are heard and given the platforms to deliver positive change. That's why NAE have created a Student Advisory Board, where elected student leaders from NAE schools across the globe discuss and decide how we'll fund and deliver incredible social impact projects globally in our local communities. Each year they'll award funds to student-led social impact initiatives globally.

NURTURING GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP THROUGH SERVICE

Each year, about 2,000 Nord Anglia students travel to our Arusha camp in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. They work with local charities on development projects, including building and extending schools. With each expedition, Nord Anglia students from all around the world help with practical tasks like bricklaying, mixing cement, digging foundations, and plastering — all the time growing in understanding of the lives of local people as well as gaining skills in teamwork and leadership. Above all, students understand their role as considerate global citizens, with an active role in helping others and improving the environment.
