Born to Be Entrepreneurs?! Meet Jaroslav and Michal: our students who achieved a great success at the JA Czech competition.

Extra Curricular Activities Prague British International School

Michal and Jaroslav, our IB students and members of the Entrepreneurship Club, have clear expectations from the club: they want to learn about themselves and enhance their knowledge and skills in building a business.

“The school offers so many options that make life more flexible and enriching,” Michal said, and here’s what they both had to say about their experience with the Entrepreneurship Club.

You took part in the JA Czech logo competition. Can you tell us more about the project?

Jaroslav: Our initial idea was to create custom rugs, but it was too time-consuming and costly. So, we shifted to something we already had — 3D printing. I’ve been using 3D printers for almost eight years, so we decided to model our own designs because we wanted to create unique, functional items that served a purpose. 3D printing allows us to make specific, tailored products.

Michal: Jaroslav introduced me to 3D printing, and I got really excited about it. All our designs are original. In the future, we’d like to use plastic waste for 3D printing, which involves recycling plastic into usable material. It’s an eco-friendly approach that we’re passionate about.

How did you come up with your logo idea for the competition?

Michal: Our logo symbolises the 3D printing process. It’s minimalistic yet complex, combining creativity with functionality. We aimed for a modern aesthetic.

Jaroslav: The logo features a prism shape, tying into our company name, Prismatica. It represents 3D printing and innovation. We deliberately chose a futuristic font to reflect modern design and hint at a sustainable future. The logo encapsulates everything about our company—creativity, modernity, and sustainability. It aligns perfectly with our mission and values.

What was the JA Czech Expo experience like?

Michal: It was our first time, and we learnt a lot about ourselves and our capabilities. Presenting our ideas and products to judges and students was a valuable learning experience.

Jaroslav: We noticed that judges appreciated passionate, energetic presentations. Observing other stalls that ranked higher, gave us ideas for improving our setup at the next Expo in April.

What feedback did you receive?

Jaroslav: The main feedback was about our logo. The judges felt it didn’t immediately convey that we were a 3D printing company. We’re considering adjustments for future rounds.

Has the Entrepreneurship Club helped you?

Michal: Our teacher has been incredibly supportive, especially during the JA Expo. Her guidance made the process much easier. The club is a great resource for anyone interested in starting a business.

Jaroslav: I agree. Our teacher, Miss Mwingira, has been amazing. She’s helped us with management, event coordination, and legalities. Her support has been invaluable.

From writing business plans, signing business contracts, designing creative logos, delivering business pitches, and developing products to setting up presentation stands, this program challenges our students' independence, public relations skills, and entrepreneurial creativity.

Our Entrepreneurship Club is part of the Junior Achievement programme, where students create functional, real mini companies that run for a full school year. Throughout the year, they participate in various competition rounds and categories and anyone who’s interested can take part.
