Drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 14th round, 410th overall. During his high school career, he dominated the mound with a perfect 15-0 record and showcased his offensive prowess, hitting .355 with four home runs and 30 RBIs as a senior. Despite being picked in the 19th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tejeda chose to play his first year of college ball at the University of Florida, continuing to impress with his exceptional talent and dedication to the game.
His baseball journey began at age 10, where he quickly displayed his talent in travel ball before coming to North Broward Prep for high school. He played on the varsity team all four years. His dedication and hard work culminated in back-to-back state championships in his junior and senior years, setting the stage for the school's reigning 2024 state championship team. Reflecting on his high school experience, Tejeda shared, "North Broward Prep was instrumental in my development as a player and as a person. The coaching, the friendships with my teammates, and the support from the school community were incredible. Winning those championships were some of the proudest moments of my life, and motivated me to pursue my dream of playing professional baseball."
Class of 2022 All-American and All-State honoree achievements propelled him to attend two top baseball programs in the state and country. Tejeda played for the University of Florida Gators his freshman year before transferring to the Florida State Seminoles baseball program, further honing his skills and making a significant impact to start the journey to be drafted to a major league baseball team.
Reflecting on his draft news, Tejeda said, “I've practiced and played baseball every day since I was 10 for this moment. Getting that phone call and taking my talents to the Nationals was exciting and a dream come true.”
Crediting his success to the strong relationships with his coaches: “I really appreciate them and learned a lot. They helped me get to the big stage and develop as a player.” As a two-way player, Tejeda was known for his outstanding hitting and pitching skills, being a switch hitter with a powerful arm.

The school’s athletic programs continue to excel, with multiple teams competing in and winning state championships. Plus, individual titles this year. Coaches focus on keeping players motivated and grounded, teaching them to enjoy the journey and avoid past mistakes.
Pitching Coach and former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brandon Cooney highlighted Tejeda’s presence on the mound: “For four years his pitching and hitting gave the team confidence to beat state competitors and win two state championships. He was a durable player who stayed healthy to compete at the highest level.”
After high school, Tejeda excelled in college baseball at the University of Florida and Florida State University, also making a name for himself in the Wareham Gatemen Cape Cod Baseball League. As a freshman at the University of Florida, Tejada went 2-0 and pitched to an ERA of 5.56 in eight games. He then transferred to Florida State University, where he pitched in 13 games, striking out 15 in 19.2 innings.
Tejeda acknowledges the influence of his coaches and the North Broward community: “I am grateful for the support and guidance I received. I matured as an individual and as an athlete. Coach Campbell and the entire coaching staff played a huge role in my development as a player and a person.”
As Tejeda embarks on his professional career with the Nationals, he is excited about the opportunities ahead. Initially joining the Gulf Coast League (GCL) team in West Palm Beach for conditioning, he looks forward to developing his skills and contributing to the team. Recently, he traveled to Washington D.C., where he met the team, marking his first trip to the capital. Tejeda expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I'm thrilled to be part of such a prestigious organization. The support from my teammates and the coaching staff has been incredible, and I'm eager to give my all on the field. This journey is a dream come true, and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
