Framingham Masters Programs through the MET In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. Within a relatively short period of time this academic project came to fruition. The initial degree offered was a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in International Teaching.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. Within a relatively short period of time this academic project came to fruition. The initial degree offered was a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in International Teaching. 

Framingham State University (FSU) was established in 1839 as the first public college in the United States to offer teacher-preparation programs. Today, the university offers graduate degree programs worldwide, a unique opportunity for educators living outside the US to advance themselves both academically and professionally. 

The original cohort of teachers has just two courses left to complete the Masters program, with a projected graduation in May. What an achievement for the MET community!

And now we have launched phase two of this project. On January 4 we held a virtual Opening Ceremony for two new Masters cohorts: Master in Arts with Concentration in Leadership and Master of Education with Concentration in International Teaching.

Again we extended the offer to our sister schools of PAIS: International School of Panama, Boston School International, Balboa Academy, and Magen David Academy have participating teachers, along with the Hebrew Academy of Panama. At this moment the MET is hosting three Masters Program cohorts with Framingham State. 

As a Panamanian educator and Site Coordinator, I’m extremely proud of the opportunity that our school is offering the teaching community through this partnership. It is one part of our social responsibility here in Panama and represents the MET’s  significant contribution to improving the quality of education in our schools.   

Our vision is for the MET to be at the forefront of education in Panama, cultivating and training educators of excellence, at our school and  in our country.
