On April 21st, 2018 the Metropolitan School of Panama offered its annual training session to teachers from the Panamanian public system through the Ministry of Education's (MEDUCA) Program "Panamá Bilingüe". The MET's international teachers shared innovative techniques in English language acquisition to engage students in the primary years level.
The Metropolitan School launched this program in 2013 to share best practices that can be easily and effectively applied within any classroom with the objective of creating a professional development network between international and local schools and contribute to the Panamanian educational system.
Since 2013 the program has grown to offer a number of workshops including shadowing sessions where MEDUCA teachers can observe these techniques in practice within the classroom. All workshops are interactive and designed to put in practice 21s century teaching practices used at top international schools.
Some workshops range from techniques on how to expand vocabulary through music, teaching through games, building relationships of trust within the classroom, techniques to improve student writing, strategies for differentiated instruction and visible thinking routines, among others.
October marks the beginning of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This year, we joined the global initiative, highlighting the theme "Data Privacy: Protect Yourself." In this article, we'll explore the significance of this annual event, the MET’s commitment to digital safety, and how we're empowering our Elementary and Secondary students to be responsible, mindful, and informed digital citizens.
