First School Day - Welcome Back

19th August, Léman International School Chengdu celebrated the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Under the guidance of our Principal, Tracy Connor, our team of dedicated teachers welcomed all our returning students and many new families with enthusiasm. With the joy of reunion and the expectation of the new school year on their faces, the students, accompanied by their teaching assistants, stepped into their refreshed and innovative classrooms to meet with their homeroom teachers and explore the new term's expectations and high standards. 

During the summer holiday, Léman's campus underwent a series of careful renovations and upgrades in order to provide our students with a more comfortable and advanced learning environment: the gym has benefitted from new windows and a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system; the third floor of the secondary school building has a new ‘university feel” and the IB Common Room and Leadership Office also received a complete upgrade. We also have new outdoor basketball and volleyball courts for our students to enjoy during breaks and ASAs. Our Primary pastoral space, “The Hive” has been doubled in size and now has an immersive state of the art projection area, designed for calm and self regulation. All of these were done to create a more functional and inspiring space for our students.  

This school year, we are pleased to welcome 8 talented new teachers from across the globe. As early as two weeks ago, our new colleagues started their integration into our Léman family, benefitting from intensive and systematic teacher training. Last week, the whole school gathered together to receive professional training in AED and first aid and in the safeguarding of children, in order to protect the learning as well as the physical and mental health of each student in the new school term.

On top of all the above, this academic year marks the school's 15th anniversary- 15 years of success! During these 15 years, we have witnessed the growth and transformation of countless students and harvested many honours and recognitions. As we embark upon our 15th year as a school, we are full of confidence and excitement that this will be our best year yet! I ask you to join us as we embark upon this exciting new year, as we work together to help each and every student reach their potential and be the best that they can be!
