Day 1 Transitioning to MYP with Confidence!
This past week has been an exhilarating journey for our Year 6 students as they embarked on their transition into the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
On Monday, April 22nd, Paul Highdale, our esteemed Head of Secondary, welcomed the young minds with a heartening introduction to secondary life.
And what a fantastic Friday, April 26th we had! Starting with an interactive session by our Pastoral & Inclusion team, students explored the new chapter ahead with activities designed to ease their transition worries.
The fun continued with breaks where Year 6 mingled with older peers, playing and chatting in the Quad – an authentic taste of secondary school camaraderie.
Lunchtimes buzzed with conversations as students shared meals and stories in the cafeteria, fostering new friendships and a sense of belonging.
From insightful presentations to playful recesses, this week was all about making connections and building a welcoming community for our future MYP stars.

Day 2 What an Exciting Day for Year 6!
On May 6th, our Year 6 students took a significant step into the Middle Years Programme (MYP) with two informative sessions:
Period 1: They joined Mr. Matt Fletcher in the English Teacher's Classroom for an introduction to MYP English Language & Literature and Language Acquisition. It was a wonderful opportunity to delve into the advanced studies of English at the secondary level!

Day 3 Recap: Year 6's Exciting Transition to MYP!
Yesterday morning, our enthusiastic Year 6 students ventured into the MYP Coordinator's classroom for an insightful induction into the Middle Years Programme. In the morning, they engaged in a comprehensive presentation by our MYP Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Meersman, learning about the adventures that await them in the coming years.

Assessment Insights: Understanding how grading and assessments will track their progress.
Programme Benefits: The key skills and knowledge they’ll gain as they step into this new phase.

Day 4 MYP Buddies Transition Day: Year 6 Students Team Up with MYP Peers!
This Friday was a thrilling day for our Year 6 students as they joined Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9 classes for the MYP Buddies Transition Day from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM. It was an exciting opportunity for them to step into middle school life, pairing up with MYP students for a series of collaborative classroom activities.
Our Year 6 students engaged in a variety of subjects including Korean, Chinese Language Acquisition, Chinese Language & Literature, and Individuals & Societies, focusing on both Economics and Social Studies. These interactions not only introduced them to the academic rigor of the MYP but also allowed them to observe and learn about the maturity and responsibility required at this level.
Lunchtime provided a wonderful chance for the buddies to bond, share their school experiences, and discuss what lies ahead. It’s heartening to see friendships forming that will help ease the transition into middle school next year.
