Celebrating Creativity and Confidence: International Dot Day at Dover Court

Celebrating Creativity and Confidence International Dot Day at Dover Court - Celebrating Creativity and Confidence International Dot Day at Dover Court

During the recent International Dot Day, Dover Court students in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 came together to celebrate creativity, courage, collaboration, and the impact they can make in the world.

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating International Dot Day with our EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 students. This special day is inspired by the book ‘The Dot’ by Peter H. Reynolds, a story that beautifully illustrates the power of encouragement, self-belief, and how everyone has the potential to be creative and achieve great things. It's a day that truly embodies the spirit of creativity, courage, collaboration, and making one's mark on the world, values that we hold dear at Dover Court.

Throughout the day, our students engaged in mark-making activities, exploring different ways to 'leave their mark' and learning that even the simplest marks can spark imagination and tell stories. We encouraged them to explore different ways to 'leave their mark', and every effort is valuable, regardless of its size. They experimented with colours, patterns, and textures, which helped develop their fine motor skills while expressing their unique ideas.

With these celebrations, we aim to inspire creativity, self-expression, and confidence in our young learners, aligning with our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum at DCIS. Our EYFS curriculum is designed to provide structured learning through play in a dynamic and engaging Reggio-inspired environment. We strive to offer our youngest learners many opportunities to be curious, explore, and lead their own learning journey.
