Dear Students, Parents and Families,
Throughout Term 2 we have seen a fantastic range of events and opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students. We started the term with the highly anticipated Battle of the Bands. The calibre of all the bands who participated throughout the competition was absolutely incredible. The final and the showcase as Timbre+ were fantastic and a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
The Languages department put on a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration, including a language music show, LoHei tossing and our very own Dover Court Lion Dance. Book Week was a wonderful celebration of literacy, with many inspiring activities taking place in lessons. The Drama department are busy rehearsing for the Wendy and Peter production next term. Throughout the term, students in all year groups were offered the opportunity to participate in enriching theatre trips, with Year 7 experiencing the fun and joy of ‘Madagascar the Musical’ at Esplanade Theatre and Years 8 -12 attending the magical ‘Matilda the Musical’ at the Sands Theatre, MBS. I was fortunate to attend the recent IB Art Exhibition, the quality was impressive, and we wish the students the best of luck.
Our teams have been firmly focused on learning in the classroom and supporting students who in Term 3 will be taking their final examinations for I/GCSE and IB with all programmes being completed for students in these year groups. It is both an exciting and daunting time, but we are confident that our students will be prepared and ready. To support them, we hosted two Exam Ready workshops this term, one for Year 11s, and one for Year 13s.
We are in the middle of Residential trip season. So far, we have seen students travel to FOBISIA leadership and sports events; read more about these below. The Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards journey went to Thailand, and the Years 7, 8 and 10 students have enjoyed their adventures in Malaysia and Borneo.
Last Friday we held the much-anticipated Spring Formal for Years 10 to 13 on Sentosa. It was a great event and student initiative, our thanks to all staff who supervised the evening to ensure it was safe and fun for all.
Our thanks to all staff, parents, the DCA and to our students themselves for completing an action-packed term. Today we have seen vibrant colours on campus to celebrate the upcoming Eid al –Fitr celebration during the holidays. We hope that all our Muslim families enjoy this special time. We wish you all a wonderful holiday and look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 16th April.
