17 students and 3 members of staff have just returned from their trip to the Swiss Alps with bundles of stories and tales from their 7 days in the mountains.
Four returning Year 9 students, together with Mr O'Shea, took their trekking to the next level to complete the advanced hike over 4 days of grueling walking. 70km, 7 students (including 3 from our Nord Anglia schools from around the globe), 4 staff members, 3 huts and 1 epic adventure later the boys were extremely happy with their achievements!
As for the rest of us, we embarked on an epic 2 day hike up into the snow, where we saw marmots and ibex, cooked a delicious curry and ate our lunch with some cows! What a fantastic experience had by all, it truly tested the students' determination and character and Miss Cooper and I are happy to say that they passed with flying colours. On top of this monumental adventure we spent a whole day visiting a Glacier at 3000m, and walking across it in snow shoes to eat our lunch overlooking the blue ice of the glacier itself. We couldn’t leave without going to Switzerland’s famous Gruyere cheese factory and to stock up on delicious chocolate. Turns out, if you buy Swiss chocolate for your parents, it doesn’t always make it home!
The students had a fantastic time and Miss Cooper is already excited for planning next year's trip!
