Earlier this month our principal Mr. Short, Mrs. Hancock and Karyn Pereira, Chair of the DCA, visited our jointly sponsored pony, Tony.
We arranged our visit to Riding for the Disabled, RDA, to coincide with a day when our students from Ms King’s class, 2SK, were having their riding lesson at the Centre. It was lovely to see how much the students have gained from their 8 weeks of visiting the RDA and it was fantastic to understand how all the children had grown in confidence and enthusiasm. The RDA is a wonderful charity that DCIS has supported and benefited from for many years. In addition to our student riders, we have a number of parents who have volunteered as side walkers as well as a group of IB students who have participated in activities arranged by the charity, such as a walkathon. On our tour, we met all the resident ponies, saw the areas where the horses work and play and met the staff who look after both the ponies and the children. A lovely visit.
