To end their unit on measuring length, 2MD took their learning outside.

The children were to investigate the length of different objects of choice. Their chosen objects ranged from fire hydrants, to traffic cones, to jackfruit. The children estimated and then, using their metre sticks, they had to measure and record the actual length. They even had a go at measuring the height of other people.

It was a great practical way to provide the children with opportunities to apply their learning about using rulers and meter sticks outside of the classroom.
