Year 10 iGCSE Mandarin and Year 7/8/9 EAL Students presented an assembly about Kung Fu as part of their Chinese New Year Programme.
Two Kung Fu professionals, Master Leroy Kwok and instructor Miss Veron Lau came down to DCIS to showcase their Hung Gar and Shaolin skills. The students also demonstrated their own Kung Fu skills they had picked up during their course at the Singapore Kung Fu Centre during their learning journey trip. At the end of their demonstration they all received a certificate for completion of the course.
Congratulations to our Year 7 to Year 11 Mandarin students from the Mandarin Department! The successful students were presented with their Youth Chinese Test level 2/3/4 certificates. There were 53 students who took the YCT in November last year and passed the official mandarin proficiency test to evaluate and certify the language proficiency of non-native speakers which was organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), China. Well done!
Jonathan Leow, Head of Mandarin
Marianne Harvey, Head of EAL
