Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,
Each year we carry out an annual parent satisfaction survey to help us improve our understanding of how we are performing in key areas – what we are doing well and the areas where we can improve, so that we can continue to improve and provide the best possible educational experience for your child.
This year’s survey was held in February and over 62% of parents participated. We would like to say thank you to everyone who shared this valuable feedback. These results, along with continuous guidance and review with Nord Anglia’s Education Team, enable us to create a thorough improvement and development plan for our school.
We are very proud of our 2016/17 academic year results which represent the collective hard work and dedication of everyone at our school.
Key Findings
Overall, the DCIS Parent body indicated a high level of overall satisfaction with the majority of their child’s educational experience:
This holds true when the survey is scrutinized a little closer, where issues regarding Social and Personal Development received a high rating. These issues encompass measuring social skills, confidence, independence and a sense of global awareness.
The survey can also be looked at with focus on statements with the highest increase since last year, which allows us to not only measure success, but also progress. Last year, we learnt about some of the key areas where you would like to see improvements and this year’s survey has highlighted the following areas where we have been successful in addressing these:
However, it would be unrealistic to only focus on these very positive aspects. We have to recognize that we also need to continuously improve in some areas. The top three lowest rated statements this year were:
We are aware that these areas need attention and, accordingly, discussions on how to incorporate these into our improvement and development plan have already begun. To keep you informed, we would like to invite you to a DCIS Principal Presentation on the Parent Satisfaction Survey on Wednesday, 3rd May from 8:45am – 9.30am in Cooper Hall.
In closing, the whole DCIS community should be proud of our school, and to celebrate this I have added some of the qualitative Parent Satisfaction Survey comments below. 'It is a very friendly and welcoming school. The children are very well looked after and nurtured. They are very happy at school and the teachers are very professional friendly and welcoming. The school encourages you to be involved in the school community and creates lots of events and opportunities to be involved.'

'…all students are accepted and included there. Nobody is left behind. The abilities of the student do not matter, they are integrated and accepted and everybody is taught to respect and accept in spite of our differences. At the end of it all, that’s what life is like outside school.'

'My children are flourishing at Dover Court and they love going to school every day. The teachers do an excellent job of motivating the kids and making the lessons interesting and interactive. The kids enjoy talking about what they learned when they come to school and this is a big difference from their previous international school. Please keep up the good work!'

'We have moved around a lot. So far this has been the best fit for our children and they are very different students from each other. As a parent I feel we are listened to and supported no matter what the issue has been and they see ways to help both move forward even though each has a different learning style and comfort level.'
'It is a down to earth school, which is smaller than a lot of the other international schools which gives it a lovely feel. Teachers are good and the school is going from strength to strength now that Nord Anglia have taken over. It is also cheaper than a lot of the other schools which is a great selling point without the level of education being compromised.'
'Year 8 is very small and my (child) receives a lot of encouragement and support. I feel the small class sizes have been very beneficial to her. She loves school and loves her teachers. She is growing into an independent, confident and motivated learner who is incredibly happy at school. As parents we couldn’t ask for more.'
'We've been with the school for a long time (8 years) and have always felt that it's a small, friendly, welcoming school. It has changed a lot over the years since Nord Anglia took over, but most changes have been for the better. Please don't grow too much, though!'
'Friendly school with good pastoral care. Teachers are caring, engaged and focused on my child as an individual. Aims for all children to reach their true potential. Good balance in Primary between a rigorous English curriculum in Maths and Literacy, with the more imaginative PBL approach. Focus on a rounded education, with good sport and music provision. Focus on getting children to achieve academically, but not overly pushy. School and teachers responsive to parental feedback.'
