Work on our exciting new sensory room was completed over half term and the children have enjoyed exploring their new learning environment.
Sensory rooms are designed to develop an individuals' senses through special lighting, music and tactile objects. Multi-sensory equipment such as bubble tubes and fibre optic lighting is often used as therapy for children with limited communication skills or for those with Sensory Processing Disorders. Children also benefit from using the room as space which stimulates the senses to promote a sense of calm and well-being.
The sensory room was completed in part by a generous donation from the Kim family whose son was a popular student here at DCIS; he joined Dover Court in 2009 and left last year to return to Korea with his family. We extend our sincere thanks for their contribution to this valuable resource for all children at DCIS and wish the Kim family every continuing success in the future.
