Simon Head Message
Week 5, Term 1, 2024/2025
I hope you have all had a good week. As we approach Parent Teacher Consultations next week, I want to take this opportunity to highlight the importance of these meetings and what you can expect.
Parent Teacher Consultations are a valuable chance for us to work together to support your child's learning journey. These sessions provide insight into your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for further development. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share observations, and collaborate with teachers on how we can best meet your child's needs, both academically and socially.

To make the most of your session, I encourage you to come prepared with any specific questions or concerns you may have. Whether it’s about academic achievement, classroom engagement, or social interactions, this is your time to have a meaningful conversation with your child’s teacher.

Each consultation will be kept within the allotted time slots to ensure everyone has an opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher. If you feel more time is needed to discuss specific issues, please feel free to arrange a follow-up meeting.

Parent Reps Update

I’m also pleased to share that our Parent Representatives had their first meeting this week. During the meeting, we discussed their roles and responsibilities, which you can find linked in the Parent Handbook.

I’d like to clarify that the role of Parent Reps is not a vehicle for raising concerns about specific individual issues or a channel for parental complaints. Their primary responsibility is to ensure parents follow the correct channels for providing feedback or addressing concerns.

The main role of the Parent Reps is to foster connections within their class, welcome new families, and support the class teacher and school with any upcoming special events. We greatly appreciate their involvement and look forward to the positive impact they will have in building a strong community spirit at BSKL.

Health and Safety Reminder

Recently, I sent out a communication regarding the processes we follow when a child is unwell or found to have a temperature upon arriving at school. Over the past two weeks, we have seen a spike in absences, particularly in our younger classrooms, with a number of children unwell. As a precaution, these classrooms have been deep cleaned and sanitized. However, we are still noticing children arriving at school with coughs and colds.

It is especially important, particularly for our younger children who are still developing their immune systems, that if your child is unwell, they remain at home until they are symptom-free. This helps to prevent the spread of illness and ensures a healthier environment for everyone.

I look forward to seeing many of you next week at our PTCs and at the Year 4, 5, and 6 Athletics Day on Wednesday.

Have a wonderful weekend,
