OUR ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

The British International School of Kuala Lumpur is open to children aged 2-18. We accept applications all year round and new students can start at any time.

After making an initial enquiry, you’ll either visit us in person or take a virtual discovery tour. You’ll then fill in an online application form. The final step is to invite your child to an age-appropriate assessment, which will help us get to know them better.

Every family’s application process is different, so we’d encourage you to get in touch with our admissions team to find out how it’ll work for you. They can answer any questions about our entry requirements and talk you through each stage.

STARTING OUR SCHOOL ENROLMENT PROCESS

APPLICATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

To apply to BSKL, you’ll need to complete our online application form. We’ll also ask you to nominate a current (or most recent) teacher to be your child’s reference. You’ll then need to pay our Application Fee.
You’ll also need to send us these documents:
  • A copy of your child’s passport or Malaysian IC card.
  • Your child’s most recent school reports (in English).
  • Any documents related to your child’s medical or additional learning needs (if applicable).

ASSESSMENT AND INTERVIEW

We ask all prospective students to sit an age-appropriate assessment. And if English isn’t your child’s first language, we’ll invite them to sit an English as an Additional Language (EAL) test as well.

Early Years
We’ll invite your child to an in-class taster session where they’ll meet our teachers and spend some time with their peers. If you can’t make it to Kuala Lumpur, we’ll set up an informal online interview.

Primary
We ask prospective primary students to take a writing test, which can be completed either in person or online. Your child may also be invited to an interview with our Head of Primary.

Secondary
Your child will sit a computerised assessment, which can either be taken at BSKL or online. We may also ask them to an interview with our Head of Secondary.
