Year 8 Zi Ling reflects on MUN Conference March 2023

Our BSB Shunyi Model United Nations (MUN) Team were delighted to attend the DIMUN XIII, a three-day event participated by eight international schools. 

Congratulations to our BSB Shunyi MUN Team members - Brandon (Y12), Lily (Y10), Wendy (Y10), Austin (Y8), Noella Y8) and Zi Ling (Y8).

"The delegate of Ecuador from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Committee was absolutely honoured to be part of the DIMUN XIII conference.

I have previously been to two MUN conferences in my MUN journey and they were great, however, they were both online conferences due to the pandemic. This was my ever first in person MUN conference, and it has been an unforgettable experience for me. I have learnt so many things and made a lot of friends during the conference.

I also greatly improved my public speaking and debating skills and learnt from others as well. Many may think that MUN debating may sound boring or arduous, but I highly disagree. MUN has brought so much fun to me. It improved my social skills, boosted my confidence, and enhanced my public speaking ability.

MUN is an amazing place to learn, improve, and make friends. Preparing for the conference and making speeches has definitely not been simple for me, and it takes a lot of courage to get on the podium to make a speech and accept POIs (points of information) and questions.

Ultimately, though, I certainly look forward to more conferences and occasions that I hope to join as I continue my MUN journey."
