ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

BSB Shunyi is an academically inclusive school that’s open to students aged from 18 months to 18 years.

Our expert Admissions team has vast experience in welcoming students from different education systems. If your child is joining us from another school, we may request school reports and academic transcripts, as well as personal recommendations.

If your child has additional educational requirements, we may be able to cater to their needs. We’ll discuss this with you as part of the admissions process.

WHAT NATIONALITIES CAN APPLY?

BSB Shunyi is licensed as an expat school under the Ministry of Education. We can only accept qualified students who hold a foreign passport with the appropriate visa.

In line with requirements implemented by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) for applicants from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, a student must be a foreign passport holder (including passports of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan). Students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan must also hold a valid travel permit (回乡证, 台胞证).

If your family holds Permanent Residence (PR) of another country, or your child holds a foreign passport and travel document, please submit your documentation to our Admissions team for consultation.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

The BSB Shunyi curriculum is taught in English. If English isn’t your child’s first language, our excellent English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme is designed to get them up to speed. Our programme’s effectiveness, combined with our immersive English-speaking environment, ensures new students pick up the language incredibly quickly.

Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world. We provide our children, from beginner to native speaker, with opportunities to learn Mandarin. New children are evaluated when they join us, before being placed into the appropriate class. Existing pupils are placed according to previous performance and academic records.

On our special German Curriculum Primary School programme (Years 1-6), lessons are taught in German, with a selection of classes delivered in English. We also offer a unique native German language programme for students who choose to join the UK education stream. This is available across the Early Years, at Primary, and in Secondary School.

We also offer an exceptional Korean native speaker class for students aged 11-18. Starting in Year 7 of Secondary School, native Korean speakers can continue to develop their linguistic ability while progressing through our British curriculum.

We place students in a year group according to their date of birth, academic level, maturity, and language ability.
