Carnival with the German Primary School 2023!

"Helau" and "Zicke Zacke Zicke Zacke - Hoi Hoi Hoi"

On Tuesday 21st February, 2023, the Fifth Season or the Carnival Season ended and this German tradition was also celebrated in China at The British School of Beijing (BSB) Shunyi. All the students and teachers in German Primary School (GPS) and Language other than English (LOTE) classes participated in this old tradition on the day.

Our hustle and bustle was opened with traditional shouts, and the Polonaise followed. There was dancing, laughing and celebration. The students came dressed up and took part in the dance to "Rote Pferd", Limbo and the game "Faschingshut" with joy and enthusiasm! The doughnuts and Berliners could not be missed!

On the same day, Pancake and Pyjamas Day were celebrated together with the entire Primary school as well. It was a feast and everyone feel good!

The entire GPS team worked great together to make this a very memorable day for all the students and teachers.

About our BSB German Primary Programme (GPS)

The German Primary Programme (GPS) at The British School of Beijing (BSB) Shunyi offers the opportunity for our German-speaking Primary School students from Klasse 1 to Klasse 4 to study core subjects in German following the German Thuringia Curriculum, while integrating into the English National Curriculum with non-core subjects and a variety of whole school activities.

The Thuringia Curriculum is the curriculum used by all German schools in the Northern hemisphere. Core subjects including German, Maths, Topic (Humanities and Science), Art and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) are taught in German. Our talented GPS teachers are qualified with a degree certificate to match German standards and typical German textbooks are used to support the lessons.

We believe that the integration of our GPS into our whole school’s activities is very important for German students to naturally grow in their bilingual abilities. They also partake in music and physical education lessons in English, as part of the English National Curriculum. They attend the weekly assemblies, participate in school productions, and go on field trips in English. We also offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) support and Chinese lessons.

Fasching mit der GPS

"Helau" und "Zicke Zacke Zicke Zacke - Hoi Hoi Hoi"

Am Dienstag, den 21. Februar 2023 endete die fünfte Jahreszeit, die Karnevals- oder Faschingszeit und das wird auch in China, in Peking an der BSB, Shunyi, tüchtig gefeiert. Die Schüler der deutschen Grundschule und LOTE Deutsch Schüler waren eingeladen, alten Traditionen nachzugehen. Unser buntes Treiben wurde mit traditionellen Rufen eröffnet, und die Polonaise schloss sich an. Es wurde getanzt, gelacht und gefeiert. Die Schüler kamen verkleidet und machten beim Tanz zum "Roten Pferd", bei Limbo und dem Spiel Faschingshut mit Freude und Begeisterung mit!

Die Krapfen bzw. Berliner durften nicht fehlen!

Und da man an dem Tag nicht genug bekommen kann, wurde gemeinsam mit der gesamten Grundschule auch der Pancake und Pyjama Day begangen. Es war ein Schlemmen und Wohlfühlen!

Das gesamte GPS-Team hat toll zusammengearbeitet, um diesen Tag unvergesslich für die Schüler zu machen.
