This week, Year 4 students at our school took to the stage to present their fantastic production, Pirates vs Mermaids. The children did an amazing job in bringing this lively show to life, filling the hall with adventure, song, and a dash of humour! Dressed as daring pirates and graceful mermaids, each student worked hard to make their character stand out, drawing the audience into a magical world under the sea.
In preparation for the performance, the students developed their creative and performance skills in both their Performing Arts classes with Ms Iva and in year group rehearsals. They learned to use expressive voices to make their characters believable, thought about how they could use their body language and movements to add to the plot, and practised clear speech so that the audience could follow every twist and turn.
The whole Year 4 team were so impressed by how dedicated the children were at memorising their lines. Their teamwork and cooperation was clear as they supported each other during rehearsals. It was a joy to see how much effort and talent our Year 4 students put into Pirates vs Mermaids, and the performance was a true celebration of their hard work.
A huge thank you to all the staff and parents who supported in sourcing costumes, practising lines and learning choreography, and congratulations to the amazing Year 4 students who produced such a fantastic performance. We hope that parents and other pupils who came to watch enjoyed the show as much as our performers enjoyed bringing it to life!

Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do, and it extends far beyond literacy. It is transdisciplinary, meaning children naturally integrate their knowledge of phonics into storytelling, create maths stories, and weave in elements of science, curiosity, and their understanding of the world.
This term, Year 2 have been learning about many interesting people in our ‘What makes someone inspirational?' Topic. They have explored space pioneers, technology forerunners, civil right activists, inventors and many other inspiring individuals.
