As an academically inclusive school, we have vast experience in welcoming incoming students from many different education systems.
If your child is joining us from another school, we may request their school reports and academic transcripts, as well as personal recommendations from their previous school.
If your child has minor learning difficulties, we may be able to cater to their needs and we may require additional assessment documentation.
LANGUAGES
We teach in English. However, if English isn’t your family’s first language, we have an excellent English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme, which caters for children who arrive at our school with little or no English. Through our programme’s effectiveness and in our English-speaking environment, children pick up the language incredibly quickly!
Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world. We provide our children, from beginners to native speakers, with the opportunity to learn Mandarin. New children are evaluated on arrival at the school before being placed into one of our ability classes. Existing pupils are streamed according to their previous performance and academic records.
At BSB Sanlitun, we offer a German programme for native German language speakers in Years 1-6. This is an optional programme where students who qualify receive three hours of German small group tuition each week (two mandatory hours and one hour ASA).

A student’s placement in a year group is determined according to their birthdate, academic level, maturity and language ability.
