This week in Year 1 the pupils have begun reading a new story called ‘The Most Magnificent Thing’. The story is about a little girl who hires an assistant to help her build her magnificent ‘thing’. This week has been a very special week here at BSB Sanlitun, the pupils have participated in STEAM week. STEAM week is a weeklong programme that consists of activities related to science, technology, English, art, and maths.
Each day, the pupils have collaborated with their peers to complete special challenges, crack codes, locate buried treasure around the school and build structures strong enough to support our school mascot, the BSB Bulldog. It has been wonderful seeing the pupils of KS1 engaged and working diligently to complete the tasks.
In maths class this week, the pupils of Year 1 have learnt how to measure length and height. They have used different methods of measurement, i.e. using cubes and hands to measure the length of an object. In addition to this, the pupils have studied new terminology such as longer, longest, tallest, taller, short, shortest, shorter etc. The pupils showed great interest and curiosity during these activities which was wonderful to see!
