CanSat Competition Update: Successful Field Tests Pave Way for CDR

1

This short report summarizes our team’s recent CanSat competition activities, focusing on the successful field tests conducted in preparation for the next milestone: the Critical Design Review (CDR).

  • The team recently concluded a series of field tests designed to validate core functionalities and design elements, like deployment mechanism, communication system, sensor readings, data processing.
  • As it happens in every prototyping and experimental projects, we too, encountered numerous challenges but they were addressed during the process. Data collected during the field tests is currently being analyzed. This analysis will be crucial for refining our hardware, software design and ensuring optimal performance during the competition.
  • Building on the results, the team is now focused on preparing for the Critical Design Review, as the next major milestone deadline rapidly approaching. We are incorporating the lessons learned from the tests into our final design and documentation.
  • Overall, we are building on the success of the tests and our team is confident that our  project is well-prepared for the upcoming CDR and the subsequent stages of the competition.

“It is such a pleasure to be part of the CANSAT team of our school. The competition is very much about learning as much as possible about robotics, programming, mechanical engineering, and virtually any topic related to engineering. As a team you must learn to communicate and work together for several months to reach and submit the Critical Design Review(CDR), to pass our next milestone, and we are very excited to see where it takes us. “
