Year 6 High Voltage Lab Trip
The highlight of the visit was the live demonstrations of high voltage experiments. Students watched in awe as the Tesla coil created massive arcs of electrical energy, lighting up the room with vivid sparks and rather loud bangs. Another experiment showed how you are safe in a metal car if lightning strikes; some even went inside a metal box to show it was true!
“My favourite part was seeing Josef demonstrate how protective his suit is, the electricity didn’t harm him.”- Said Anna from 6 Copper. Here are some other opinions from the class:
Paola |
“I loved when my hair went all frizzy with the balloon and the sparks of lightning gave me ghost bumps”. |
Ivy |
“I loved when we were in the museum and with the glass how the electricity affected”. |
Kevin |
“I liked when we learned about atoms and magnets”. |
Yoonwoo |
“I learned on the trip that if lightning hits the car, people in that car cannot feel lightning”. |
Dani |
“The one where we could go in the box and it was really fun watching it”. |
Kevin |
“I liked it when I was sitting in a metal box. I got so much adrenaline because I was first and Gabor said to me that he doesn’t know what will happen to me when the lightning strikes”. |
I think everyone had fun taking part in this educational experience. My favourite part was when they brought us to the lab and showed some of the special machines.
