Last term Year 5 had the exciting opportunity to be part of the 2024 Juilliard Film Music Project. This was open to all Nord Anglia schools around the world and was a fantastic way for the children to explore the world of film music and demonstrate their creativity.
The children were shown a short, funny animation called ‘Caminandes’ featuring a hungry llama and some peculiar penguins but with no music. Juilliard activities guided the children through the film music composition process, exploring the moods, emotions and sounds for different sections (cues) of the animation, through movement, rhythm and exploring different sounds and musical ideas. The children in each Year 5 class completed cue sheets with detailed information about the sounds, rhythms and moods they felt were best for each cue, as well as recording some of their ideas.
All of our Year 5 classes did a wonderful job and demonstrated great creativity and musical skill. We were delighted that one class, 5 Cobalt, were selected to be one of just 5 classes from across Nord Anglia schools around the world to have their ideas realised by a Juilliard composition student who took our cue sheet, video clips and audio clips and brought them to life.
Congratulations to all of our Year 5 students who really demonstrated great creativity in the ideas they came up with and we hope you will enjoy the final animation with music created by 5 Cobalt and Juilliard.

Year 12 have been spending a lot of time in Sports Hall One over the last week. Not doing sport, although they could tell you the science behind it…
There was a fun packed programme for the secondary students remaining on-site, which followed the 5 Co-Curricular strands. Students were immersed in languages, film-making, STEAM activities and cooking. They learned about children's rights and advocacy, and showed their creative talents through artwork. They hiked in the hills and formed friendships across year groups. See the Firefly page for further details and photographs
It has been a very memorable end of the primary journey for our Year 6 students. This last week of term has been jam packed. On Monday and Tuesday, the students performed the end of year production of ‘Olivia’, on Tuesday morning, there was a year group water fight and on Wednesday afternoon, they finally graduated with a special ceremony.
As a community, we've been actively promoting healthy eating habits through our weekly articles about life in the kitchen. With the summer holidays just a few days away and the heatwave this summer, we must all be more mindful of our fluid intake.
