A huge well done to all the students who have entered the Global Campus Musician of the Year Competition. As a Music department we were tasked with the challenge of selecting the best video per category to enter into the wider NAE Global Campus Challenge. The following videos have been submitted to represent BISB in the NAE Young Musician of the Year Competition, of which winners will be announced on the Global Campus in April 2024 via the showcase: Yifan, Liu (Piano Category 1), Hanze Liu (Piano Category 2), Erik Yeluri (Guitar Category 2), Athena Wu (Cello Category 2), Nuala Wardell (Voice, Musical Theatre Category 2), Nina Hamitova (Voice, Popular Category 2), Yanxing Wu (Piano Category 4), Jaewoo Lee (Bass Guitar Category 4), Jake Kim (Oboe Category 3), Aron Philipson, Adam Mazuk, Calliope Tulea, Yanxing Wu, Marcell Gellert, Pranav Shivaramakrishnan and Yi Zhong (Popular Band), Dalija Stojanovska (Violin Category 3), Akos Gergely-Gal (Clarinet Category 4), Luca Kopanyi (Voice Musical Theatre Category 4).
The BISB Music Department enjoyed watching all your entries and were very impressed with both the range and expressiveness of all the performances we saw. We know that Music education is positive for brain development in childhood, such as cognitive skills, auditory processing, literacy and working memory but it also provides our children with the chance to release emotion and seek comfort therefore enhancing their emotional well-being and providing connections. As a Music department, we are very grateful to be able to not just witness the talents and abilities of our musicians but that our students are confident allowing themselves to express as individuals openly with us. Well done to all our BISB Musicians, keep playing, keep being passionate about your music and keep being you.

Year 12 have been spending a lot of time in Sports Hall One over the last week. Not doing sport, although they could tell you the science behind it…
There was a fun packed programme for the secondary students remaining on-site, which followed the 5 Co-Curricular strands. Students were immersed in languages, film-making, STEAM activities and cooking. They learned about children's rights and advocacy, and showed their creative talents through artwork. They hiked in the hills and formed friendships across year groups. See the Firefly page for further details and photographs
It has been a very memorable end of the primary journey for our Year 6 students. This last week of term has been jam packed. On Monday and Tuesday, the students performed the end of year production of ‘Olivia’, on Tuesday morning, there was a year group water fight and on Wednesday afternoon, they finally graduated with a special ceremony.
As a community, we've been actively promoting healthy eating habits through our weekly articles about life in the kitchen. With the summer holidays just a few days away and the heatwave this summer, we must all be more mindful of our fluid intake.
