Maths Week

Last week the Primary school celebrated Maths week with the theme - Maths Affirmations! As part of this, the children have been partaking in a variety of activities that gets them talking and singing about what they know in Maths. They learnt songs linked with their maths topics, fluency chants to help them with their times tables and built in extra opportunities to develop mathematical talk in class, using maths sentence starters and maths widgets to solidify their foundations and vocabulary in maths.

In addition, they competed against adults and sixth formers across the school in a TimesTablesRockStar (TTRS) tournament arena at lunchtimes, competed in a 'Budapest Rocks-Top of the Rocks' TTRS competition against other Budapest International schools and dressed up as rockstars for our Friday Maths 'Riff-off'. Here classes performed excerpts of maths songs they learnt in class to compete for the title of 'Rockstar maths class 2024'. Many prizes were given out thanks to #Times Tables Rock) and the stickers, temporary tattoos and certificates they shared after their visit a few weeks ago. The winning classes for the 'Rockstar maths class 2024' were:

In the weeks prior to maths week, a home learning task was set. Children could compete, with their families or friends, for the title of 'Rockstar home learner(s) 2024'. To do this they needed to by record a song where children show their practicing of times tables by singing a song. The deadline for submissions was the start of Maths Week and the winners were:
