Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast

The curtains went up on Beauty and the Beast on Tuesday 28th March with the first of our 2 performances. With over 100 students involved from Year 5-Year 12 as either cast, musicians, crew, set building and prop design over the last few months, our students were excited to showcase their work.

Rumi Momo one of our Chorus members said, “the experience was something I will never forget”.

Finn Turner, playing the role of Lefou commented, “As part of my character, I worked alongside IB Theatre students, which has helped me to learn from my peers and develop my understanding of Drama”

Lian Dymschiz (Mrs Potts) and Dora Tordai (Lumiere) Working on Beauty and the Beast this year has been an amazing opportunity for so many of us. The play is a tale about the triumph of love above all else; a reminder that we must look past our flaws and prejudices and discover who we truly are. Rehearsals were always filled with excitement and humour. It has been an uplifting experience to collaborate with students from across many different year groups, and we feel that we have brought out the best in one-another. Collaborating with the talented Art Department was a pleasure, and the many artists who have created our set and props have made rehearsals feel very inspiring and lively. The input of hard work on extravagant costumes, dazzling choreography, catchy dialogue and captivating music – played by our fabulously talented musicians – has resulted in unforgettable performances. We are very grateful for all the guidance that we have received from our wonderful teachers, who have supported us throughout the entire process.”

These students have given so much time and effort to making these performances successful. They are committed and passionate about Performing Arts and never fail to impress us as a team. From our backstage team, running around to support our cast members on stage, the musicians whose hands and fingers have worked tirelessly to accompany all the action and finally our cast members who have the job of memorizing all those lines and entertaining you, as our audience. To work with a high level of professionalism daily in these students reminds us why do these jobs. A huge congratulations to all the students involved, you make us very proud.
