During their latest topic, cells and organs, Year 7 have been learning about specialised cells and how they have adapted to be best for their job.
Some examples are:
Root Hair Cells, which have a large surface area to help get as much water as possible into the plant,
Red Blood Cells, which have a high surface area to absorb as much oxygen as possible,
Nerve Cells, with long bodies to pass signals efficiently,
Sperm Cells, with tails for movement,
And many more.
To help learn this, they drew a chosen cell on a piece of shrinkable plastic, put it in the oven for a few minutes, and made them much smaller to simulate cells a little more. They then made them into cool keyrings.

Last week, Year 6 performed our wonderful musical production for the parents and younger children in school. It was a play called Troy Story - it was about the Greeks and Trojans who were at war and had lots of drama.
As the academic year draws to a close, our Early Years students marked the occasion in the most joyful way possible, with Splash Day, a much-loved BISB tradition that brings together sunshine, water play, and the simple delight of being a child.
