The Girls’ U19 Football Team had mixed results, but one thing that could not be questioned is their effort and team spirit. After a slow start and a 0-0 score against Beau Soleil, the girls started showing their strength and potential to take the game to the opposition with a 2-0 win against Bratislava. In our next game, we lost 1-0 to a very impressive Dublin team, but this game could have gone either way; in the final match of the first day, we drew 0-0 to Prague.
We were pleased at how our first day had gone; the girls had given everything, and apart from the one defeat, we had given ourselves a good chance of finishing in the top places on the second day.
Sadly, day two was to be our most unlucky day, let it be a lack of concentration in key moments or moments in which we went close to scoring, but we lost our semi-final game 2-1 to Beau Soleil. This set up a third-place plate match against the hosts Prague.
Prague was put under immense pressure, but after going 1-0 down, we couldn’t find a breakthrough. The game disappointingly finished 1-0 to Prague. As the results go, we didn’t have luck on our side. But our girls really made it difficult for our opposition throughout the tournament. Our player of the tournament was Sophie Staunton (Year 13), and we feel fired up and ready for our big DVAC tournament on November 5th.

Last weekend, the Boys U19 Football Team had a successful NAGGE 7-a-side tournament in Prague. After a mixed start, they began to show their full potential, and I was impressed with their organisation, collaboration and work rate as the tournament progressed.
As a result of their efforts, the boys found themselves competing in the plate final against Dublin – a team that had beaten them 3-2 in the first game. Despite an element of pressure being involved, the boys kept their composure and eventually won the game 4-1 with two goals from Benji that were complemented by some fantastic defensive work from Tian and some excellent creativity and vision from Alexei.
Throughout the tournament, team captain Tim was the top scorer with three goals, while Alexei, Benji and Tian scored two goals. Well done to all the students involved; we now look forward to the upcoming DVAC tournament at AISB on the 12th of November!
