This week, our school proudly hosted the first-ever Nord Anglia Education Model United Nations European virtual conference.
Even before the conference began, our expert student MUN leaders delivered specialist preparation workshops to students from seven of our regional schools. These focused on parliamentary procedure, debating resolutions, and shared tips and tricks on navigating unmoderated caucuses.
Over 90 student delegates from Moscow to Madrid sat in six committees to debate original, high-level resolutions addressing UN Sustainable Development Goals 13, 14 and 15 which connect to the impacts of climate change.
Our conference ceremonies saw a key address from Mr Richard Shackleton, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Budapest, and from Dr Vanessa Chan, Chief Commercialization Officer and Director of the Office of Technology Transitions for the Department of Energy in the United States.
Two days of solid committee sessions saw phenomenal debate, a comprehensive grasp of key issues, and an impressive commitment to collaboration, not to mention all the procedural fun that a Model United Nations conference brings.
We would like to thank all of our student delegates for their high-level preparation and participation to make this first-ever virtual European event such a success and a memorable experience for all involved.
