I think it was a great opportunity to play with different ages and different genders altogether and get back into the habit of playing games with other people.

House Football Tournament Report In the first week of October Key Stage 3, 4, and Sixth Form were engaged in a fierce, but friendly competition in our House Football Tournament.

In the first week of October Key Stage 3, 4, and Sixth Form were engaged in a fierce, but friendly competition in our House Football Tournament. Our journalist, Julia (who participated in the tournament herself) decided to interview some of the players, to see their experiences and feedback on the tournament.

Julia’s thoughts:

I personally really enjoyed playing in the football tournament. The weather was great, and it was incredibly fun and engaging. These moments were definitely some of the most memorable moments from the last days of summer this year. As amazing as it was, the sizes of the teams were a hard challenge we had to overcome. Sometimes there were a lot of people and deciding who should sub was quite hard (for me). Other times, there were not enough people, which made playing very hard, especially against such skilled opponents. Overall, it was great, and I really hope that more people will come and join the game next year.

Interviews with other participants

Fruzsina (Year 10 Calypso):

“I think it was a really good chance for us to finally have a match against somebody because it put pressure on us, and we tried our best and it went very well."

Matty (Year 8 Endeavour):

“I liked how everyone tried and wanted to play football and joined.”

Tony (Year 9 Endeavour):

“I loved the teamwork in the football tournament.”

Daniel (Year 10 Endeavour):

“I’m looking forward to winning the tournament next year!”

Henry (Year 11 Endeavour):

“I think it was good, we played 6 a side on a pitch that was too small.”

Srinidhi (Year 10 Calypso):

“I think it was especially fun as a lot of matches that were supposed to happen in quarantine got cancelled, and it was a good way to bring team spirit back. After so long of not seeing each other, it was really good to see and play with our friends.”

Vencel (Year 10 Calypso):

“It was good, and it was fun to play with my friends and with my teammates. We won the whole championship, so I’m perfectly happy!”
